"Volunteers researching the Southwest Trail hope to get a local contact in each of the counties traversed by the legendary 19th-century route that crossed 300 miles of Arkansas . . .

Pinpointing the Southwest Trail of the 1830s will help determine routes chosen by several Trail of Tears groups.  The trail south of Little Rock was traveled by Choctaw and Chickasaw removal contingents.
